TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham is running for Florida governor, hoping to win the seat her father held two terms before serving in the U.S. Senate.
Graham made her announcement Tuesday in the Miami area, where she lived until she moved into the governor's mansion at age 15 when her father, Bob Graham, took office.
She served one term in Congress, choosing not to seek re-election last year after new congressional maps made her district firmly Republican.
She said while she's proud of her father and has learned much from him, she's running on her own merits.
Prior to Congress, Graham worked as a Leon County school system administrator and as a lawyer focusing on environmental and energy issues.
Orlando businessman Chris King and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum also are seeking the Democratic nomination.
