Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is promoting a tool to help drive down the price you pay for healthcare.
The strategy involves paying for healthcare the way you might shop online.
"The number one issue people come back to is just how costly medical is," Governor DeSantis said.
He made the comments at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood and lauded their online portal that shows patients how much their treatment costs before they get it.
Governor DeSantis is also supporting legislation to expand a statewide portal so patients can see their healthcare costs and options before receiving care anywhere in Florida. "This is one tool that we're looking for to create a downward pressure on the cost of all this stuff."
Governor DeSantis says he has a number of insurance providers aboard and he's working to add more.
