Someone is missing 16 potted plants of marijuana, and the Gainesville Police Department is holding on to it for them.

On Tuesday evening, two GPD officers were dispatched to a trail near an elementary school after an off-duty sheriff's deputy found the 16 individually potted plants while walking his dog.

On it's Facebook page, the Gainesville Police Department posted a note. "Missing your marijuana? Call GPD to claim and/or identify!"

The officers collected the plants and left also behind a note for their owner.

Gainesville police left this note after taking 16 marijuana plants.

The note on Facebook ends with, "So - if they are yours... please give us a call to set up a time that we can speak about them."

We wonder how this story will end.
