TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida parents shopping for the new school year are getting a smaller, shorter back-to-school sales tax holiday.

The sales tax holiday kicks off this coming Friday, Aug. 5 at 12:01 a.m. and will last the entire weekend. Last year's back to school tax holiday lasted 10 days.

Shoppers won't have to pay state or local sales taxes on clothes worth $60 or less and on school supplies worth $15 or less. That's a sizable drop from last year when shoppers could buy clothing worth $100 or less without paying taxes.

Another major change for this year is that legislators eliminated computers from the tax break.

Gov. Rick Scott asked for a longer tax holiday but legislators ignored his request.
