A Florida gas station clerk got hit in the face by thief, but she later took action and attacked him from behind, putting him in a choke hold.

The incident occurred March 22 at Jessie's Island Store in Holmes Beach, Fla.

Video shows a man, later identified as Jason Bounds, 44, attempting to conceal a bottle of beer, a pint of milk and 10 cheese and beef sticks in the pocket of his hooded jacket.

When he is confronted by a female store clerk about stealing, video shows Bounds punching her several times in the head, ear and abdomen.

But when he turns his back to leave, the woman attacks him from behind and puts him a choke hold in an effort to detain him.

Bounds was able to free himself and run away from the store.

A search conducted by a K9 deputy and officers was unable to locate Bounds at the time but he was arrested on April 17.

Bounds is charged with one count of battery (second or subsequent offense) and one count of resisting a merchant.
