YULEE, Fla. (AP) -- Memorial services will soon begin for a northeast Florida sheriff's deputy killed this week when he was struck by a car while chasing a suspect.
A wake is scheduled Friday for Nassau County Deputy Eric James Oliver and a funeral service is scheduled for Saturday.
The 32-year-old deputy and father of one was assisting U.S. Border Patrol agents Tuesday as they questioned six men in a pickup truck.
Authorities say 26-year-old Francisco Obidio Portillo-Fuentes of El Salvador ran. Oliver was struck by a car when he ran into the road chasing him.
Portillo-Fuentes is being charged with felony re-entry into the United States. Authorities also say he was being sought for a probation violation after pleading guilty in August to a DUI charge.
