(WESH/NBC) A Florida jewelry store is offering customers a free shotgun with purchases between $450 to $4,000.
The owners at Downtown Goldsmith Jewelry and Engraving in Deland, Fla., started the controversial holiday promotion three years ago.
They say it's a twist on the phrase "shotgun wedding."
The business is reportedly attracting people from across Central Florida.
One of the owners says most deals have involved jewelry for the ladies and a $270 shotgun for the men.
But it's been the other way around in a couple of cases.
The store has already given away 20 shotguns with another 20 ordered.
One customer says buying jewelry and receiving a shotgun is just what he was looking for this holiday.
"My wife loves jewelry, and it was an opportunity for us to get jewelry, and I get a gun, first one in 20 years. So, you have the best of both worlds,” said customer Bill Seabrease.
The business plans to offer the same deal on Valentine’s Day for customers who missed the Christmas offer.
