(WKMG/CNN) A high school football star in Florida didn't let his battle with cancer stop him from planning a big prom surprise for his girlfriend.
Tashawn Manning, 17, has been fighting leukemia since last November, but he still wanted to do something special for girlfriend Victoria Green.
Manning has spent a lot of time an Orlando hospital receiving chemotherapy treatments, and that's where he launched his surprise "promposal."
Manning enlisted staff at the hospital to help him carry out his plan.
He said they had only been dating about a month when he was diagnosed, but she has stayed by his side.
Manning credits her with keeping his spirits high as he battled the disease. The couple will be attending the Wekiva High School prom on April 23.
