CAPE CORAL, Fla. (AP) — Officials say a Florida firefighter is recovering after exposure to the synthetic opioid fentanyl.
The News-Press reports that the Cape Coral rescue worker was exposed to the drug Tuesday morning.
Fire officials say a ladder crew was responding to a report of two unconscious people in a vehicle.
A fire department spokeswoman says three responders were cleared to return to duty, but the one who had the largest initial contact with the substance was readmitted to a local hospital Wednesday afternoon.
