VENICE, Fla. — A Florida day care worker has been charged with three counts of child abuse after video was recorded of the incident.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office says Jamie Smithmyer was caught on surveillance video aggressively handling several young children.

The 26-year-old woman from Punta Gorda, Florida, worked at a day care facility in Venice.

According to authorities, a parent noticed Smithmyer carrying three toddlers by the arms and pushing them to the floor.

The children did not suffer any major injuries.

Smithmyer no longer works at the facility.

Records indicate she was arrested on Jan. 31, but released from the Sarasota County Jail after posting bail on Feb. 1.
