Florida could change fireworks law

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- Floridians might soon be able to stop lying when they buy fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July and New Year's.

The Senate Rules Committee approved a bill Wednesday that would legalize exploding fireworks on those holidays.

Not that they aren't already sold, but Floridians have to sign a document to say they're buying fireworks to scare birds away from farms and fish hatcheries.

Those are the only uses allowed under current law.

The bill now goes to the full Senate for a vote.
