FHP: man throws empty jar of salsa at car that wouldn't let him merge

Posted

LAKELAND, Fla. - An empty jar of salsa became a weapon in a case of road rage in Polk County over the weekend, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jason Drew was arrested on charges of throwing a deadly missile at a moving car, and causing damage.

Investigators say Drew threw the empty jar of salsa at the victim’s car after the vehicle failed to let his car merge off of Kathleen Road.

Drew claimed the victim tried running him off the road.

The salsa jar hit the passenger's side window, causing damage. There was a 9-year-old child in the rear seat of the victim’s car.

Drew was expected to face a judge Monday. His bond is set at $5,000.
