COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (AP) -- The former head football coach at a South Florida high school is being disciplined after an investigation found he tried to pay another student to take a college admissions test for a star player.

The Sun Sentinel reports 37-year-old Calvin Davis stepped down from his coaching job at Coconut Creek High School in February 2015.

Davis was reprimanded, fined $1,500 and ordered to take a class on ethics following an investigation by the Florida Department of Education.

Davis' settlement with the state says he "neither admits nor denies" but elects not to contest the decision.

He told the newspaper he didn't fight the state's decision because he sees the disciplinary process as unfair.
