Birds of a feather flock together, and sometimes fight as well.
Two Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers discovered what they thought were two dead eagles.
Upon closer inspection, the birds, with their talons locked, raised their heads and opened their beaks.
For more than two hours the birds engaged in a standoff. Eventually they became tired and flew away just as the officers planned to put a jacket over them and break up the fight.
The FWC chalks it up to nesting season which began October 1.
Wildlife officers say bald eagles are very territorial and will aggressively defend their nests.
The FWC posted video on its Facebook page but did not say where the eagle encounter happened.
