DORAL, Fla. — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is suing a handful of residents whose properties back up to his South Florida golf course, alleging they are cutting down the course’s privacy trees.
Doral residents say the landscaping blocks their serene fairway views and impacts home values. Some homes are worth $500,000 or more, although Trump says some of the properties aren’t up to his standards.
Residents complained to city officials. Trump accuses some residents of chopping down or radically trimming trees.
The city sent a letter to residents in December warning against trespassing and vandalism, but Trump’s camp says that didn’t stop the problem.
The Miami Herald reports Trump’s organization filed lawsuits against eight residents for alleged damage to the trees last month. The lawsuits seek more than $15,000 in damages from each.
