ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-- Several dolphins are back in open waters after getting stuck in a canal in Florida.

The dolphins were first spotted in the canal in St. Petersburg Monday night.

Fish and wildlife officials used canoes and kayaks to lead them out Tuesday morning.

Officers believe the dolphins may have lost their way or gotten confused by the noise.

Wildlife officials say it's common to see manatees in those canals but very unusual to see dolphins.

An FWC biologist said they seemed to be healthy.
