Congressman Alcee Hastings announced Monday that he is battling pancreatic cancer.
Hastings, 82, is a Democrat who is currently Florida's longest serving member in Congress. He has represented Florida's 20th Congressional District, which includes most of the majority-black precincts around Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, since 1993.
Hastings released the following statement:
I was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and am undergoing treatment at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. I ask for your prayers at this time. Please see my full statement, below. pic.twitter.com/8CUIk1qFVY
