An explosion at the SpaceX Launch Pad literally shakes a nearby community.

Around 9 a..m. Friday morning, the company in Cape Canaveral was testing an unmanned rocket when it exploded.

In nearby Titusville, Roger Whittemore heard everything.

"Had no idea what it was. The house shook and the windows rattled, like something blew up like an explosion," says Whittemore.

A large black cloud engulfed the area for several hours and everyone longing to know what happened.

SpaceX was test firing one its unmanned rockets. The explosion destroying the rocket and the satellite on board. The good news was nobody was hurt.

For Whittemore it sounded much worse.

"Anytime something like that happens, you certainly don't want anyone hurt."
