Fla. teens get up close with great white shark

(WKMG/CNN) Two Central Florida teens have quite a fish tale to tell their friends and family after getting an up close to a great white shark.

Wylie Phelan and Taylor Magone, both 18, were fishing for grouper near the Ponce Inlet in Volusia County, but found a big shark instead.

"Something incredible. Once in a lifetime that's for sure," said Phelan. "We saw a grey shadow coming up on us. You couldn't miss him. A 16-foot shark coming up on you."

"He probably did 20 or so circles around the boat," said Magone, who quickly grabbing his GoPro camera. "I was just holding the camera and just sticking it in the water so I could get some great shots of him."

The teens said they weren't scared at all.

"He seemed, nice friendly, calm," said Phelan.

"(The shark) came right up, was looking right into our eyes.  It was awesome," said Magone.

The young men posted their videos on social media and they are already getting thousands of views.

They said they'll be going back out fishing and will be on the lookout for their new friend.  If they don't see it, they said they're just happy to have this amazing video.

"I knew if I got up close and personal, it would honestly be a one in a lifetime shot," said Magone.

"I'll be lucky if it ever happens again," said Phelan.

The young men said the shark did not appear to be tagged.
