Rescue crews in Florida have been inundated by storm-related incidents this week from Hurricane Hermine, but a lifeguard encountered a unique incident in St. John’s County.
According to a post on the county’s fire rescue page, a SJCFR Marine Rescue lifeguards helped rescue a deer Thursday from the Atlantic Ocean.
The deer entered the water and began struggling in the water and was unable to return to shore.
Concerned for the safety of the animal, lifeguards entered the water with a rescue board and helped steer the deer back to shore.
Once on the beach, crews said the deer ran off into the dune line without any concerns.
