CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a 4-year-old boy drowned in a pond near a playground in a South Florida neighborhood.
Coral Springs police spokesman Tyler Reik tells news outlets the boy's father reported him missing late Sunday afternoon. Rescue crews noticed some of the child's toys in a pond and asked for divers to be sent in.
Reik says divers found the child. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The child's name wasn't released.
