FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- Officials say a plane traveling from the Dominican Republican to Pittsburgh had to stop in Florida after several people were injured when the plane experienced turbulence.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles says the Allegiant Air flight coming from Punta Cana was forced to land at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Thursday afternoon. Rescuers met the plane when it landed.
Officials say four flight attendants and three passengers were taken to a local hospital. Jachles says their injuries ranged from cuts and bruises to head trauma, but they weren't considered life-threatening.
Allegiant said in a news release that the plane had been carrying 137 passengers and six crew members.
Spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler says there were no immediate signs of damage to the plane.
