CLEWISTON, Fla. (AP) — A 7-year-old Florida girl has been critically injured after she was thrown from a swamp buggy and run over by its tire.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 33-year-old Shawn Newton was driving the swamp buggy with several passengers through the woods in Clewiston on Saturday when they hit a stump.
The girl was ejected from the buggy and run over by the tire. She was flown to the hospital.
Authorities say the other passengers, including a 2-year-old, were not hurt. It's unclear if seat belts were being used.
