CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating after three inmates overdosed on a white powdery substance at a Florida jail.

A Pinellas County Sheriff's news release says the inmates showed signs of an overdose Thursday afternoon. Paramedics took them to a hospital, where they are expected to recover.

Detectives found that 29-year-old Robert Gilner in possession of the powdery substance. He was housed with 30-year-old Jason Koketek and 31-year-old Jason Sandy in the Clearwater jail and admitted sharing the substance with them.

Officials say Gilner likely brought the substance into the jail when he was arrested on a DUI charge on Tuesday. He faces one count of introduction of contraband into a detention facility. A lawyer isn't listed on jail records.

The investigation is continuing.
