MIAMI (AP) — Two Florida police officers are facing criminal charges after a handcuffed suspect was slapped in an incident that was captured on video.

The Miami Herald reported Tuesday that Miami-Dade Sgt. Manuel Regueiro is charged with misdemeanor battery during the March 2018 arrest of Bryan Crespo. Officer Alexander Gonzalez is with tampering with evidence and theft for attempting to damage a video surveillance system.

It wasn't immediately clear Tuesday if either officer had an attorney.

Video from a home system captured the moment Regueiro slapped Crespo as he was being arrested for allegedly dealing in stolen airbags.

Miami-Dade police Director Juan Perez has called the video disturbing.

Two other Miami-Dade officers are being investigated for their roles in the incident.
