DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Investigators say two men are accused of shining a laser light at passing traffic on a highway near Daytona Beach.
But one of the motorists was a deputy in an unmarked Volusia County Sheriff's vehicle. He followed them into a nearby apartment complex late Wednesday night.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the laser, which was also a lighter, was designed to look like a pistol. Deputies say 25-year-old Uleseyc O'Neal and 19-year-old Terry Howard ran from the car. A deputy called for backup.
Deputies and a K-9 unit tracked the men. An arrest report says O'Neal admitted to pointing the laser and apologized.
Both are charged with pointing a laser at a deputy and O'Neal was charged with aggravated assault.
It's not known whether they've hired lawyers.
