MIAMI (AP) -- Police say a 13-year-old boy was shot three times in the torso while visiting his grandmother in Miami-Dade County.
Miami-Dade Det. Marjorie Eloi says Eric Watson Jr. talked to medics when they arrived to help him around 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The Miami Herald reports the child was outside talking with friends when he was shot.
Eloi says investigators are trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
It comes one day after a 7-year-old boy was fatally shot in nearby Richmond Heights. Officers don't believe the shootings are connected.
Eloi says It is "becoming heartbreaking to ... continuously come out and speak about these shootings involving children."
