A Port St. Lucie homeless man was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, after police responded to an unwelcome guest call.
The incident happened on November 19 at around 5:20 a.m. on the 200 block of SW Ridgecrest Drive.
The caller told police the armed man was on the patio of his house and he continuously comes to the house uninvited.
According to the caller, he asked the homeless man, identified as 26-year-old Shanito Howard, to leave. Howard displayed a gun and told him to make him leave.
The caller says he saw Howard again in his back patio, left the residence and called police.
Port St, Lucie police did not locate Howard at the house and deployed a K-9 unit to track the homeless man.
Howard was found sleeping on the canal bank in the 300 block of SW Ridgecrest Drive. He was in possession of a .380 caliber handgun, officials said.
Howard was arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
