HUTCHINSON ISLAND, Fla. — Sea turtles nesting season is starting a little early this year.
The first nest of the year was found on a Treasure Coast beach.
Nesting season doesn't officially start until March, but a leatherback turtle nest was laid almost two weeks ago on Hutchinson Island.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, it's the earliest nest on record in the state.
