UPDATE: Waveland Beach has reopened after officials investigated a suspicious package found in the women's bathroom stall.
According to Sheriff Ken Mascara, at approximately 5:24 p.m., bomb technicians determined the item to be of no danger and the beach was re-opened based on established park times.

Officials are investigating a suspicious package found in the bathroom at Waveland Beach on South Hutchinson Island.
According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office a large, taped up cardboard box was left in the women's bathroom stall Saturday afternoon.
Waveland Beach is temporarily closed and all visitors are asked to evacuate.
Public asked to avoid the area.
