Port St. Lucie police offer safe place for transactions

Posted

Port St. Lucie police are now offering a safe place for the public to make safe transactions.

Police have put “Meetup Spot” signs near department headquarters where video is recorded 24 hours day, seven days a week.

Sgt. Frank Sabol says the space reduces the risk of buying items online from people you don’t know.

Sabol says to suggest meeting at the location, but if the other person doesn’t want to, it could be red flag.

“If they don’t show up or they try to convince you to go somewhere else, then you know they have criminal intent in mind.  So, just bring it over here to the Port St. Lucie Police Department for a safe and smooth transaction,” said Sabol.

If you still don't feel safe outside, Sabol said the public is welcome to go inside the police department lobby.
