The four-legged officers in Port St. Lucie have something to celebrate.
Thursday, the Port St. Lucie Police Department celebrated the grand opening of its new K9 training facility. It’s where the K9 handlers can work on everything from obedience to agility with their dogs.
There are six dogs in the unit. Five of them are patrol, and there is one bloodhound.
“We’ve never had a place where we can train our dogs that was ours, somewhere we can bring in other agencies bring in joint training,” said Officer John Fazio, one of the unit’s handlers.
Now they have a facility of their own.
The facility was mainly funded through donations.
