The hunt for a fugitive from New Jersey led U.S. Marshals to a home in Port St. Lucie on Thursday.

Drugs and explosive material were found at a home on the 300 block of  Duval Avenue, where John Kaminsky, 31, was arrested by U.S. Marshals Task Force, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

"We had to close the 300 block of Duval Ave. to traffic for five hours earlier today for the safety of the public. We also evacuated several nearby homes, also for safety. We appreciate the understanding of neighborhood residents and motorists," said Mascara.

Detectives obtained probable cause for a drug-related search warrant at the home.

The sheriff's office bomb squad and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on the scene, and members of the sheriff's special investigations unit are also investigating.

It's unclear how long Kaminsky has been hiding in Port St. Lucie.
