An 82-year-old driver in Port St. Lucie is accused of hitting a teen and then leaving the scene.

The 15-year-old victim was eastbound on SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard Sunday afternoon when a car heading south on SW Airoso Boulevard struck the teen's bicycle, witnesses told police.

Police say the bicyclist had the right of way because the crossing said "walk" at the time of impact.

Witnesses gave police a description of the car and its license tag.

They traced it to Laurence Edward Murphy, 82, of SW Chartwell Street.

Police say his car, a gray 2015 Honda Civic, had a large dent on the hood.

Murphy said he panicked and didn't know what to do, according to police who arrested him for leaving the scene of a crash without rendering aid.

The teen victim was treated at a hospital and later released.
