Before you fill up your car, make sure the gas pump hasn't been tampered with.
That's the advice Port St. Lucie police are giving after a Florida Department of Agriculture representative found credit card skimmers inside four gas pumps Friday.
The discovery was made at the Valero gas station at 1297 SW Gatlin Boulevard, according to police.
The panel on the front of the pumps had been removed and the skimmers were placed inside.
Police warn drivers to look for tampering before using a credit card. They say there is normally 'tamper tape' over a panel where attendants gain access on the pump. If the tape is not there, or looks as if it’s been disturbed, you should notify the attendant.
Anyone with information is urged to call Port St. Lucie Police Department at (772) 871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273 TIPS.
