PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Two teen brothers are facing charges after police say they attempted to burglarize a home in Port St. Lucie.

The incident happened Tuesday at around 10:40 a.m. in the 2400 block of SW Vardon Street.

Police arrived at the scene after reports of an attempted burglary to a residence. A victim told police a masked man was attempting to burglarize his home.

According to a news release, 18-year-old Andres Munoz initially acted alone while attempting to burglarize the home.

Andres knocked at the victim's door then walked to the side of the house. He noticed an officer arriving at the scene and fled to a nearby wooded area where the report says he was picked up by his 17-year-old brother, Ernesto Munoz, in a blue and white Town & Country minivan.

Police set a perimeter and a K9 tracked for the suspect.

The report states that during the search police saw Andre Munoz run and enter the minivan at SW Savage Blvd.

Police initiated a traffic stop and Andres Munoz bailed out of the car at SW Yellowtail Ave but was later apprehended by the K9, without any contact.

He was in possession of a hammer and a knife, but no mask.

Ernesto Munoz was taken into custody at SW Dalpina Rd.

Both teens were taken to the police station and interviewed.

Andres was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and Ernesto was transported to the St. Lucie County Jail.

No entry was made into the victim's home, the report says.
