A former St. Mary's, Georgia police officer turned himself in to the St. Lucie County Jail  after police secured warrants for his arrest.

Officials say 31-year-old Jacques Azemar was first arrested on April 17 when he went to his estranged wife's apartment and began arguing with her. Azemar battered his wife during an altercation and forcibly took her cell phone out of her hand so she could not call police.

Another report involving Azemar came in on May 22, when he was seen fleeing the area of his wife's apartment complex after investigators say, he knocked on the front door and not getting a response, smashed both mirrors of a car that was parked outside the apartment. The same car was vandalized four days later. During this incident Azemar was seeing keying both sides of the vehicle and smashing the tail lights.

Azemar is being held at the St. Lucie County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence and trespassing.
