Man injured in Fort Pierce drive-by shooting

Fort Pierce police are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a man injured Saturday morning. 

The incident happened at 5000 S. U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce. 

Officials say 21-year-old Michael Dawson sustained a single gunshot wound to his buttocks during the drive-by shooting that left the car he was traveling damaged from several bullet holes. 

Detectives recovered casings from multiple firearms from the scene, including casings from a large caliber weapon. 

The reason for the shooting is under investigation. 

Dawson was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center for treatment and is in stable condition. 

Suspect information is limited. The suspect vehicle is possibly white, police say.
