All surfers know the ocean has a certain 'healing power' that draws them in. Whether it be physical healing, or mental healing, we as surfers know it's there, and it's real.
Von Ludwig and many volunteers want to share that 'healing' ability the ocean has to our servicemen and women who returned with an injury defending our country.
Our country's wounded warriors are national heroes, and Ludwig hopes the combination of "stoke" and "ocean healing" will help and empower our veterans who put it all on the line for our freedom.
Each year the event gets bigger and bigger, and everyone has a good time. This year it will again be atFt. Pierce Inlet State Park, and knowledge of surfing isn't required.
Experienced surfers will help teach every wounded warrior that shows up how to surf, and make sure everyone catches some waves, despite any disabilities.
The event is on track to have 21 Wounded Warriors and around 75-80 volunteers
The state park, along with Spunky's Surf Shop and the community of the Treasure Coast will host the morning of surf instruction and a catered lunch. The day will start at 8 a-m sharp at boardwalk 1 with a debriefing for all the volunteers, by 930 a-m they will take to the water and catch some waves, and by 11:30 a-m will be treated to a catered lunch under pavilion #1. The event is free.
If you are interested in participating as a volunteer, please sign-up in the spaces provided. Direct all questions to Von Ludwig at vonfoxone@msn.com or call 561-670-4742 anytime. Hope to see you there and God Bless! Aloha!
