ST. LUCIE COUNTY - St. Lucie County has joined other counties around the state that have implemented burn bans.
Due to dry conditions, a county-wide burn ban is effective immediately.
The county said the burn ban applies to all non-permitted, outside burning.
Agricultural burning will be permitted only on a case-by-case basis and subject to the approval of the Florida Forest Service.
“We are urging residents to use extreme caution and report any outside burning or fireworks to 9-1-1,” St. Lucie County Public Safety Director Ron Parrish said in a statement.
The county said that the last time it issued a county-wide burn ban was in the spring of 2011.
