The Florida Forest Service is helping battled brush fires in Martin and St. Lucie counties Wednesday.
In Martin County flames had scorched 120 acres by 5:45 p.m.
By 9 p..m. the fire was 80 percent contained on 200 acres, according to fire officials.
The forest service says embers carried by the wind are igniting dry vegetation. No homes were immediately threatened.
And in St. Lucie County there was a large brush fire at 9000 Carlton Road. 130 acres had burned as of 5:30. According to fire crews, this wildfire was 100 percent contained. around 7:15 p.m.
Some residents in St. Lucie County have complained that the wind is blowing ashes on patios and vehicles.
