DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — Drivers will be able to renew expired drivers licenses in Palm Beach County starting on Monday, April 27 at the Tax Collector’s Office in Delray Beach.

"If you don’t have a mask, you are not allowed in our building," said Tax Collector Ann Gannon.

The office is only handling drivers licenses and only by appointment. All others services are still being handled online and by mail.

"You cannot bring anyone but yourself to do the service," Gannon said. "We don’t want kids, grandmas, brothers, sisters. They’re not going to be allowed in our building. They will be told to wait in the car."

To start, the Tax Collector’s Office at 501 South Congress Avenue will only have reduced staff to comply with social distancing guidelines.

The office will be able to handle 272 appointments everyday from 8:20 a.m. to 4:20 p.m.

Gannon said she will watch closely to see if this will lead to reopening up the county’s five other offices.

"This is really a test run. We do have some plans to open them, but if this doesn’t work out and the public doesn’t cooperate, then it would be much longer for our other offices to open," Gannon said.
