DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — A traffic stop led to an unexpected discovery for a Delray Beach police officer over the weekend.
The DBPD said 22-year-old Jacobi Baker was pulled over around 1:40 a.m. Sunday for running a stop sign at SW 15th Terrace and SW 6th St.
Police said as an officer approached Baker's vehicle, he spotted a black and tan American tactical rifle on the floorboard underneath Baker's steering wheel. The semi-automatic weapon was loaded, according to police.
Because it's illegal to openly carry a firearm in Florida, Baker broke the law by having the rifle in plain view.
Baker was arrested on charges of carrying an unlicensed firearm and carrying a prohibited weapon.
