DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — Part of a brand new, all-adult boutique hotel on Key Largo burned down over the weekend.
Thankfully, no one was hurt, but close to it all was a woman from Delray Beach, who was staying there and able to escape.
“I can’t believe it, this is so sad,” you can hear Tara Giacinto say as she records video from her cellphone of the fire.
She was celebrating her birthday early with a long weekend, at the new, adults only, all-inclusive Bungalows Hotel on Key Largo, when it was cut short.
“We woke up at, it had to be right at 5 a.m., to another guest, first banging on our back porch and then he opened the door screaming ‘Fire! Fire! Get out! I can’t believe nobody got you guys out,'" she said in a Facetime interview.
Tara was staying at a room adjacent to the Beach House, which was destroyed.
She’s thankful for the man who made sure she was awake.
“As soon as he opens the door, you could feel the heat, hear the flames and everything happened so fast, we started grabbing our stuff,” she said.
As the sun rose over the Atlantic, the glow of the four-alarm fire still vibrant.
“It was devastating it was gorgeous, we were super excited to go to begin with because it was brand new,” she said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The hotel remains closed.
