Delray Beach police say hold on to your purse after recent thefts at store

Delray Beach police officers are warning women to keep a close eye on their purses while shopping.

According to a post on the police department's Facebook page, two women recently had their wallets stolen from their purses when they briefly left them unattended. When they got to the register, they realized they had been robbed.

Police said both of the women were older and are reminding the public that thieves often prey on the elderly.

They warn shoppers that if a purse is left in a cart, it's important not to get distracted and walk away from it, even for just a few seconds.
