Not Kroger but Lucky's to open in Delray Beach

A Lucky's Market will soon be coming to Delray Beach.

The market emphasizes natural and organic food, fresh produce, meat and seafood, prepared foods baked goods, wine and beer and personal care goods, according to its website.

Topvalco , a subsidiary of Kroger, purchased the Delray Commons on July 27 for $15 million, and an additional outparcel for $2 million.

Kroger, the nation's largest grocery store chain, has a strategic partnership with Lucky's.

The land Kroger purchased for Lucky's is directly across the street from a Publix.

Lucky's also announced plans to open in Boca Raton, West Boca, Dania Beach and Cooper City in the next 18-24 months.

Lakeland-based Publix employs more than 190,000 people in 1,190 stores across seven southern states, the majority in Florida. According to its company website, the company had retail sales of $34.6 billion in 2017.

Kroger, headquartered in Ohio, operates 2,782 grocery stores in 35 states under a variety of names. It's portfolio also includes 274 jewelry stores. It's 2017 revenues were $122.6 billion.
