Delray Beach Fire Rescue and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue are on scene of an apartment fire at Environment Apartments on SW 22nd Ave.
Firefighters say five families made it out of the apartment complex safely. No one was injured.
The 911 call came in around 2 a.m. That's when firefighters rushed to the scene and found flames shooting through the ceiling of a second floor apartment, #201.
Delray Beach Fire Captain Ed Beardsley says it took about 15 to 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.
"When we arrived, we did have heavy fire showing from the ceiling in the second floor apartment," said Beardsley. "[We were] able to get quick entry towards the back. We did have heavy fire. They we were able to knock down real quick."
The Red Cross is offering assistance to the families displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
