Woman accused of running over girlfriend with car in Boynton Beach held without bond

Ericka Edwards remains hospitalized in critical condition two months after authorities say she was hit with a car and dragged more than 600 feet

The woman accused of harming her is to be held in jail without bond, a Palm Beach County judge ruled Monday afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol says LiShell Jacobs hit Edwards with her car on April 17 on the I-95 Gateway Blvd exit ramp. Edwards got out of the car during an argument between the two when Jacobs picked Edwards up from the Palm Beach International Airport after filming on the Jerry Springer show in Connecticut, according to an arrest report.

Jacobs is charged with attempted murder and driving without a license causing injury to a person. She’s being held without bond, but her attorneys asked a judge to set bond so she could be released from jail.

A witness to the crash said in court she saw a car run a red light and then saw a woman lodged under the driver’s side back tire.

“I couldn’t hear her but I could see the agony on her face,” said Jaclyn Pavone. Pavone, who said she’s a nurse, got out to check on Edwards and call 911.

“When I saw there was a woman trapped, my instinct was to help,” said Pavone.

Edwards’ sister said she was happy the judge did not grant bond to Jacobs, but her sister has a long fight ahead of her.

"She's still in the hospital, still fighting for her life. Every day she kind of approves," said Dominique Edwards.

Jacobs remains at the Palm Beach County Jail.
