A Boynton Beach woman is worried her son won't recognize her house when he visits Friday afternoon.

Crews from Home Depot and Advent Lutheran Church renovated Dorthy Moore’s home.

Upgrades included new kitchen cabinets, fresh paint outside and repairs to the fence.

Moore had one hip replaced and needs the other one replaced soon. She said the work these volunteers did will make it easier for her to host family and friends this holiday season.

“They’re so willingly doing it,” Moore said. “Nobody is complaining about anything they’re doing. They know what they need to do and they do it and you’re happy!

This work is part of a nationwide push by the Home Depot to help veterans.

Moore is the widow of a World War II Army veteran. She is involved in veteran committees within the city of Boynton Beach.
