Boynton Beach Police are still investigating how a 76-year-old man disappeared from an assisted living facility and why no one reported him missing.

The man was found after he fell at a bus stop. Contact 5 confirmed the assisted living facility he walked out of was the same place where two caretakers were arrested for elderly abuse.

According to police, 76-year-old Darryl Moorehead appeared confused when he was found in Boynton Beach early Wednesday morning.

Initially, police could not confirm his identity so they sent out an alert asking for information.

Thursday morning, contact 5 learned Moorehead was staying at the Colonial Assisted Living Facility in Boynton Beach before he disappeared. Colonial Assisted Living used to be called Regal Park. That's the facility where two caretakers were arrested last July, accused of using duct tape to restrain a dementia patient. Those caretakers no longer work there and face charges of elderly abuse and false imprisonment.

As for Moorehead, police took him to the hospital after he fell. Contact 5 stopped by Colonial Management to ask why he wasn't reported missing.
At 11 a.m. Thursday, the owner said they would give a statement. As of this writing there has been no official response.

Boynton Beach police say this is still an active investigation.
